Important information: Microsoft Viva Goals will be discontinued on December 31, 2025!
Microsoft has announced that Viva Goals will be discontinued on December 31, 2025. The development of new functions has already been stopped since December 5, 2024. Companies using Viva Goals should therefore plan a migration to other OKR software at an early stage to avoid interruptions in their strategy implementation.
In October 2021, Microsoft acquired Ally.io, a provider of OKR software, and integrated the solution into the Microsoft Viva Suite, a modern employee portal and intranet product, in May 2022. However, on December 18, 2024, Microsoft announced the discontinuation of Viva Goals.
Companies should therefore select alternative OKR software at an early stage in order to continue their strategy implementation without interruptions.

Other OKR software tools also support integration with Microsoft Teams
Most OKR tools support integration with Microsoft Teams. This is done via the Microsoft Teams app of the respective provider, which can be installed very easily.

Replace Viva Goals with suitable OKR software tools
The Microsoft Teams app of the respective OKR tool takes over the direct and seamless integration of the user interface of the OKR software into the user interface of MS Teams. With a click on the MS Teams tool tab on the app icon of the OKR tool, all functions of the OKR software are available without having to switch to another application.
As with Viva Goals, use MS Teams to enter OKRs directly
With the extension of Microsoft Teams for OKR, new OKRs can be easily created as part of OKR planning. Most tools allow different types of input – from a very simple quick input to an input assistant (wizard) that guides the user step by step to the input, including access to KPI databases.
Update OKR for teams, departments and the organization
From here, existing key results can be conveniently updated as part of the OKR check-ins, for example before the OKR Weekly. This is where the integration pays off, as the update should take place at least once a week, so access to the update option directly from Microsoft Teams saves a lot of time .
